We would like to congratulate Jude, Ellie, Niamh, Ibraham, Marleigh, Ruby, Krishan and ex pupils Cara and Omar who have all had their work published in the SWiRLS paperback. The children will be invited to the launch of the paperback, it will then be available to purchase.

New Parent Governor appointed

Thank you very much to those who put themselves up for the role of parent governor, and to the many parents who voted in the election. It was a close ballot, but the winner was Priscilla Conway, whose children are in Nursery and Year 1. We are very happy to welcome her onto the governing body for Clapham Terrace.

Exciting Exhibition Coming to School

We are really excited to be hosting an exhibition as part of Black History Month. During the week beginning the 20th October, schools from the local area will be visiting to view our children’s learning about local prominent black people, including legendary boxer Randolph Turpin, actor Earl Cameron CBE and ex mayor of Leamington Spa Mota Singh.

We have heard from our intrepid travellers who are currently in Bo.  Mrs Bailey and Mrs Garrett are forging some great links with our partner school and contrary to the UK their weather is ‘very hot’!  Boris (year 1’s bear) is enjoying his travels along with six other bears and has been appropriately nicknamed ‘Bo’ for short.

On Wednesday 19th January, Mrs Bailey and children from Clapham Terrace joined up to 60 000 pupils across the UK to perform the National School Sport Dance in a bid to get the Government to re-think its school sport funding cuts. Through the Sport Partnership we receive vital funding, training and equipment to enhance our provision of PE.

Warwick District Council will be coming into school to work with Early Years and Key Stage 1 on Tuesday 30th November, during their craft week. They will also lead a whole school assembly on the day and give away some free goodies to all of the children.

This week we introduced Family Dinner Service to our lunch time. Week one has been a fantastic start to the new system. Staff and children have all enjoyed dining together. Our official servers have been the perfect hosts for dinner. We will be continuing to amend and adapt these arrangements over the next week until we have the perfect recipe for our school and hope in the new school year that we will be able to invite parents to come and dine with us.

Earlier this week our Key Stage 2 children were absolutely amazing as they entertained audiences with their ‘RATS!’ production. We certainly have some fantastic talent amongst our pupils and no doubt some stars of the future! We need to say a very big thank you to Mr Parker and the Key Stage 2 Team for putting such a great production together.

Last Friday, school said goodbye to Ellen Spencer who has been cleaning and taking good care of Clapham Terrace for 29 years. It was wonderful to see so many old faces at Ellen’s party. We shall miss seeing her around the place but wish her a very happy retirement.

The Heritage Open Day on the 24th April 2010, was a huge success. Over 200 people attended the event. Can we take this opportunity to thank the Home School Association for all of their hard work in organising a very successful event. Also thanks to the children from Year 5 who performed ‘Oliver’ and also the children from Year 6 who wore blitz costumes.

You should have now all received a copy of the final OFSTED report, if you have not received one please contact the office and we will be able to supply you with a copy. The report will be live on the Ofsted website at www.ofsted.gov.uk. We hope to hold our termly parents meeting towards the end of this term, when the staff and Governors will outline future developments for the school with particular reference to our Ofsted outcomes.

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
