Newsletter 12th November 2010

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Thursday 11th November 2010 at 11am the school observed a two minute silence as a mark of respect. The children have explored the theme of Remembrance throughout the week in assemblies and Y6 have completed some fantastic projects linked to their topic on WWII.

Year 5/6 have written an article for our local cluster newspaper. 4000 copies of the newspaper are being produced and will be distributed to the local community. There is also a promotion planned to be held in the Royal Priors Shopping Centre.

As the winter weather is slowly creeping in can we take this opportunity to remind you of the school’s Emergency Closure system. Closing the school is not an easy decision and various things need to be considered before action is taken. We have to consider site conditions, road conditions, availability of school meals, availability of heating, the weather forecast for the day, availability of staff (particularly as many of our staff commute from a distance to school) and also what actions other schools in our area are taking. Once a decision has been made it is then broadcast on Mercia Radio and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire. The school website is then updated and this information is also shown on

Today, Friday 12th November we hosted our Open Day. Year Six pupils did a fantastic job as tour guides promoting the school to our wider community. We had many visitors through the door – thank you to the H.S.A. who provided our morning visitors with a welcome opportunity to chat to existing parents at the H.S.A. coffee morning and to the governors who were able to meet with our afternoon visitors.
All of our visitors commented on the wonderful warm welcome they received from all of the children and the staff. To download a full copy of the newsletter click here.

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
