Newsletter 15th October 2010

Half term is fast approaching and the heating has now had to go on! Please can we ask that all children remember to bring coats to school (named) so that they can go outside for break times regardless of the weather.

Thank you to all parents/carers who have attended Learning Review Meetings this week – we hope you have found them useful. If you haven’t been able to meet with your child’s teacher yet, please get in touch either directly or via the School Office and we will endeavour to arrange a convenient time with you.

Excellent July Results!
The governors have recently met to review our provisional data for 2010 and we are extremely proud of the achievements of our YR, Y2 and Y6 cohorts in their formal assessments and tests at the end of the Summer Term.
• Our Reception children (now in Y1) achieved our best ever results exceeding National figures in all assessment scales.
• Year 2 have improved results in all areas with Level 3’s exceeding National figures in Writing, Maths, Science and Speaking & Listening.
• Year 6 have achieved our highest Level 5 results exceeding National figures in all areas.
This is fantastic news for the school and highlights how all the hard work and drive for improvement over the past 18 months has made a real difference. The commitment and dedication of all the staff to continue to raise standards, the engagement and ongoing support of parents and carers and the focus and application of the children mean that Clapham Terrace is well on its way to becoming a Good and Outstanding school.
Well done!

Open Day, Friday 12th November
9.30 – 10.30am and 1.30 – 2.30pm
To help us to share the good news we will be holding an Open Day after half term. This will be an opportunity for prospective parents/carers and pupils to visit us and find out more about our school. It will also be an opportunity for you as existing parents/carers to see a little of the school from the ‘inside’. Our Y6 children will act as hosts during the two sessions, showing visitors around the school at work. We hope that our H.S.A. Coffee Morning may run a little longer so that prospective parents can have an opportunity to chat to existing parents at the school and hope Governors will also be able to attend.
Please help us to promote the event within the wider community so that we have an excellent turn out on the day.

Parent Governor Elections
Nomination forms for the Parent Governor Election are available from the school office. The deadline for nomination is Friday 22nd October 2010.

Marle Hall
We wish Year 6 a safe journey on Monday 18th October 2010, they will be travelling to North Wales and spending a week at Marle Hall having the opportunity to experience various team building activities. They will return on Friday 22nd October ready for a well deserved rest over half term.  To download the full newsletter click here.

Why we love Clapham Terrace

Clapham Terrace is a great school where I have seen my son grow both academically and socially. Thanks to a dedicated staff and an active parent body, Clapham Terrace school stands out as both a place of learning and as a social community. - Parent to year 1 pupil

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
