The Heritage Open Day on the 24th April 2010, was a huge success. Over 200 people attended the event. Can we take this opportunity to thank the Home School Association for all of their hard work in organising a very successful event. Also thanks to the children from Year 5 who performed Oliver and also the children from Year 6 who wore blitz costumes.
We need to celebrate staff news as well. Maria Hall and Lisa Timms have both recently achieved a CACHE qualification at a level 3 Congratulations to them. Lisa Beniston has also been asked to act as an Early Years Foundation Stage Moderator, working with Nursery practitioners across the county. It is lovely to see that the Early Years Unit has been recognised as a model of good practice. Well done to the team !
We hosted two open mornings for our Nursery this week. Children can attend our Nursery the term after their third birthday. We have three intakes during the year, Autumn, Spring and Summer term. We still have a few vacancies for September 2010, so if you know anyone who is looking for a nursery place please ask them to get in touch with us.
We thought that with the coming of the summer term and hopefully the warmer weather, we would take this opportunity to reinforce our school dress code. Restrictions to dress are made only on Health and Safety grounds and to help protect children from the sun:-
During hot weather shoulders should be covered.
No flip flops or trainers with wheels
No high heels or open toe sandals
Sensible clothing lengths ie Knee length skirts / long shorts
No hoods up, or hats are to be worn inside school
No jewellery other than small ear studs or compulsory religious items may be worn. These should be removed during PE activities
No make-up or nail polish

I like science because we get to do fun stuff like do experiments and write about what we found out in our science books. I also like all the discos where I can have fun with my friends and my mum and dad can talk to other mums and dads. - Theodore, Year 2
We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to. From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
