How does it work?

Pupils belong to a mainstream class and are fully involved inall school activiteis.

  • Staffing includes specialist teachers, assistants and Speech and Language Therapists who work closely with mainstream staff to address pupils' individual needs.
  • Support is offered within the whole class and within the Speech and Language Resource Base in a small group or individually.  The nature of specialist support depends on  your child's strengths and weaknesses.
  • Specialist resources are available to support your child's access to the whole school curriculum.
  • Each pupil will have a programme tailored to his/her specific needs known as an I.E.P  Termly meetings are held involving you and your child and staff to review progress and to agree new targets.
  • Following the school's aims and objectives you are encouraged to be fully involved with your child's progress.  Additional support is offered using a Home/School Link Book and Parent Support Group.
  • The LEA will usually provide free transport from you home to and from the school.

What happens next?

  • The length of time which pupils spend at our school will vary but usually a pupil will stay as long as the specialist help seems appropriate or until the age limit fo the school is reached.  At this point parents can request a place at the school of their choice.
  • When pupils transfer from the Resource Base to a different school, staff arrange liaison meetings with the receiving school staff and ensure that all relevant information is made available to them.

Why we love Clapham Terrace

I love doing my numeracy and literacy lessons and I really enjoy being in the playground as there are so many different activities you can do with the climbing wall, games, and climbing frame. - Imogen, Year 1

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
