Newsletter 16th July 2010

16.07.2010

This week we introduced Family Dinner Service to our lunch time. Week one has been a fantastic start to the new system. Staff and children have all enjoyed dining together. Our official servers have been the perfect hosts for dinner. We will be continuing to amend and adapt these arrangements over the next week until we have the perfect recipe for our school and hope in the new school year that we will be able to invite parents to come and dine with us.

Don’t forget our main celebration for Arts Week which will be on Weds. 21st July (3.15-4.15pm and 6.30-7.30pm). This is our Open Evening where you can come and see your child’s work displayed and also experience a taste of the Caribbean. Caribbean food will be served, some children will be performing their dances and all of the art work will be on display.

The children who performed at the Intercultural & Creative Arts Festival at the Spa Centre on Thursday 8th July were brilliant ambassadors for school. They performed a dance entitled 'Friendship' and were shining stars on stage! Thank you to all of the children and parents involved.
I have received a thank you from ICSS:

‘Just wanted to say a big thank you for your involvement in the Festival last Thursday evening. Your children were brilliant and I hope they all enjoyed the experience of performing on the Spa Centre stage. The Slumdog routine was a great hit with the crowd! I do hope that you will now put the event in your diary and hopefully we will see you next year. Thanks once again, Best wishes, Liz, (ICSS)’.
The children will perform their routine at our Open Evening next week.

Sports Day was another big success yesterday thanks to some fantastic organisation, including our Y6 team who ‘ran’ the F&KS1 morning, and support from staff and parents. The children really enjoyed the experience and some amazing school records were set at the KS2 event at Campion. The records will stand until next year’s event when we hope a few may be beaten! The overall winner who will have their Team Name engraved on our new Sports Day Trophy is Fire.

We have some staff goodbyes to say next week as Mrs Virk, Mrs Satsavia, Mrs Glen, Mr Bayliss and Ms Scarff all leave us to move either into retirement or new teaching posts. We thank them all for the tremendous work they have done for Clapham Terrace and wish them every happiness in their next steps…

This time of the year is always extremely busy in school with the KS2 Production, Swimming Gala, Athletics competitions, Sports Day, Arts Week, Trips and visits, New Parents’ Evening etc. and Open Evening still to come. On behalf of all the staff, we would like to thank all of our parents, families and children for your support. We look forward to an exciting final week with our Talent Show on Wednesday and Leavers’ Assembly on Friday and hope to see you in school sharing some of the fantastic work and achievements of all of our pupils before we break up for the Summer.

Why we love Clapham Terrace

"The pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural skills are a real strength of the school as pupils have an excellent understanding of a wide range of cultures and faiths and can compare these to that of their own lives well." - Ofsted 2014

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
