Newsletter 24th September 2010

24.09.2010

The new school year has begun very positively and we have welcomed our Reception children into school full time this week. Both Nursery and Reception children have settled in brilliantly.

Dress Code / School Uniform & new logo
It is really pleasing to see most children complying with our Dress Code and particularly lovely to see many children now wearing school uniform. All orders for uniform with the new school logo have been submitted and should be with us in 7-10 days. There will be another opportunity to order uniform items just before Half Term.

Congratulations to Mia Holland, who left Y6 at the end of July.
Mia designed our new school logo. The logo will now appear on all school stationery and also on the new uniform items.

Class Information Meetings
Thank you to all parents/carers who have been able to attend Class Information meetings over the past two weeks - we hope you have found these useful. We would appreciate any feedback regarding the structure, timings, or any other aspect of this early opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher so that we can continue to improve their effectiveness.

Harvest Assembly
As we are already approaching the end of September it will soon be time for our Harvest Assembly which will be on Friday 01st October 2010 at 2.45pm. We would like to once again support the Salvation Army by collecting tinned goods, for example tinned meat, fish, rice pudding, spaghetti or vegetables. Every Monday to Saturday morning the Salvation Army give out food parcels to people who are homeless or vulnerable in South Warwickshire, and our Harvest collection will support this project. Any donations of tinned goods can be brought into school from Monday 27th September 2010.

Christmas is coming….
Early plans for school Christmas celebrations include a pantomime performance of Cinders and Buttons, from Pyramid Productions. This will be performed in school to YR-Y6 on Monday 13th December. This will be instead of taking the children to the Spa Centre Pantomime. A letter will be going out to all parents/carers containing further information shortly.

Y6 Marle Hall Meeting
There will be a meeting for parents/carers of all children going to Marle Hall this term on Monday 27th September @ 7pm in the Y6 Class room.

HSA Annual General Meeting
The HSA will be holding their AGM on Monday 27th September @ 8pm - all parents/carers are very welcome to attend. The meeting will provide you with an opportunity to find out more about the role of the HSA and how you can play a positive part in this aspect of school life.   To download a full copy of this weeks newsletter click here.

Why we love Clapham Terrace

Clapham is a small friendly school.  You won't get lost.  The teachers are really friendly. - Daisy in Year 5

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
