Welcome Back

08.09.2009

I hope that you have all had a relaxing summer and are ready for the start of a busy term.  School has been full of activity during the summer holidays.  The old stage has found a new home and will be providing a platform for various functions in the community throughout the year.  Some of it will also be used for raise vegetable beds in a community garden creating greater accessibility for the disabled.  The new stackable stage has arrived and will be much more flexible and easier to store.

Staff have worked extremely hard over the past few weeks.  School has had a spring clean with many of the carpets being shampooed and all the classrooms have been cleared and re-arranged.  A considerable amount of work has also taken place behind the scenes - the resources room has been completely revamped and cleaned out, the staff room given a spring clean and the new cupboard for the HSA has been built.  a new fence and gate is also due to be erected, in the next week, between the Early Years Playground and the Main playground.

We have established an exciting new partnership with the University of Warwick.  Our Year 6 children will be participating in a new venture which hopes to raise aspirations for their future, more informationto follow.

School work from the last academic year will be sent home shortly - please could children bring a bag into school on Friday to bring work home in.  Some work has been selected to remainin school for monitoring and tracking purposes and you will receive a note informing you if your child falls into this group.  Their work will be returned to you when they leave us in Year 6.

We are starting the new year tightening up on systems and expectations to enable greater efficiency and consistency across the school.  Details outlined in the accompanying "Information Booklet".  Please particularly note that all children must have a PE kit, in school at all times as detailed in the booklet.  Payments of any kind need to be sent in to school in a sealed, named envelope.  Also after Assembly on Friday we ask that all children are collected from the playground as on other days.  We welcome you comments and thoughts and appreciate your support in making positive changes to our school.

We have welcomed Mr Matthew Parker onto the staff as our Deputy Head and Y6 teacher, Mrs Lisa Beniston as our Foundation Stage Leader and YR teacher, and Mrs Sue Scarff as our Y5 teacher.  WE are now ready for a new, very busy and exciting year full of positive developments and effective partnerships and we look forward to working with you and your child/children to make Clapham Terrace a very happy and successful place to be.

Yours sincerely,

Sue Gallager

Why we love Clapham Terrace

"In the 2013 Year 6 national assessments the number of pupils who achieved the higher Level 5 and Level 6 were above national averages." - Ofsted 2014

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
