How to Help Your Child

As the children are now more familiar with Mathletics homework, it is being set more frequently, this is differentiated to match your child’s need. Please note, depending on the focus it can be weekly, this is not always the case, we are encouraging the children to access many of the online activities independently of us.
We are working on Schofield and Simms maths books three times a week, they will be marked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will have discussed with you if your child is receiving some different homework to this.

Daily reading at home is strongly recommended, whether this is reading to themselves, an adult or a sibling. Please record what has been read or encourage your child to keep a log in their reading diary.

Children came home with a Mid-Term Reports a couple of weeks ago, we hope both you and your child found this useful and were able to talk about learning targets.

Homework Corner

Children will be given a Home Topic book to explore  ‘Space-Blast Off!’
Children are aware of our topic format and expectations.
There is a mind map to give guidance about compulsory and optional tasks to complete. We hope the children are as enthusiastic and diligent about this home learning as they have been about previous home learning! We look forward to
sharing and celebrating the learning on a Wednesday each week.

Please remember book bags daily and ensure P.E kits are in school, with suitable outdoor footwear now the weather is improving.

Children should be practising their multiplication tables as discussed at  parent/teacher consultations in March. They are used on a regular basis in our numeracy lessons and practised in any spare minutes we have within a school day.

Why we love Clapham Terrace

I love doing my numeracy and literacy lessons and I really enjoy being in the playground as there are so many different activities you can do with the climbing wall, games, and climbing frame. - Imogen, Year 1

Fundraising at Clapham Terrace

We have a strong support network of staff and parents who are dedicated to raising extra funds to buy the things that school budgets can't stretch to.  From redesigning the school library to making over the playground the HSA (PTA) are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas.
